Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), functioning under the Ministry of Tourism with the mandate to promote Sri Lanka as a destination for the international MICE events (Meetings/Incentive Travel/Conferences/Exhibitions) has launched a new MICE promotional video.
Due to the effect of the global COVID-19 pandemic, majority of the conventions, meetings and other business-related events either got cancelled or postponed. With limited face to face meetings, the new drift is hybrid or virtual platforms and social media have set off to dominate the MICE industry.
In order to penetrate the social media platforms, SLCB has developed and launched the new promotional video. MICE tourism is a niche segment and one of the fastest-growing components of the tourism industry. In 2018, worldwide MICE industry was valued in excess of $ 270 billion and it accounts for 1% of the global GDP.
In line with World Tourism Day, SLCB released the video to reposition the tagline of Sri Lanka’s MICE industry ‘Meet In Sri Lanka’. The duration of the video is three minutes and features both MICE venues as well as the leisure segment. The video captures state-of-the-art MICE facilities, accessibility, international and local accommodation facilities, and blends with pre and post – MICE activities such as shopping, nature, cultural experiences, incentive options, authentic Sri Lankan foods and shopping aspects of Sri Lanka. The video will serve as a promotional tool to shift Sri Lanka and its capabilities as a promising destination for post-pandemic MICE events. This will be featured in all SLCB future virtual and conventional marketing initiatives and popularised through social media platforms and Sri Lankan foreign missions overseas as well.
